For the latest Castle Lager’s football campaign, the audience are taken on a wild, time-hopping ride through football history from the raw nostalgia of 1996, to the electric celebration of 2010, and into a futuristic 2026 matchday all unfolding inside one seamless, high and low-energy stadium universe. Working with Giant Films, Chocolate Tribe delivered time spanning VFX that brought the nostalgic and future vision to life. Using in-house custom VFX pipelines, the team created large stadium crowds by expanding the on-set extras into tens of thousands of fans each one moving, reacting, and feeling like part of the game.
Combining our traditional 3D workflows with a custom hybrid AI solution the team delivered numerous unique digi-doubles and ensured every stand was feeling alive with its own rhythm and roar. Performance capture added the spark, turning simple recorded movements into massive waves of cheering, chanting, and celebration. Besides pack replacements, colour grading and clean ups, we also spend a lot of time creating the right filmic look for each era. Footage shot with today’s cutting edge cameras had to seamlessly blend with the old film and video stock footage inserts. The result is a fully immersive football world where different eras collide, stadiums pulse with energy, and live-action blends effortlessly with digital crowds, putting viewers right at the heart of the beautiful game.
