Castle Free - "Still A Beer"

Director Peter Pohorsky from Plank Film brings us the new Castle “Free” commercial where a whole stadium goes instantly quiet when Bobby Skinstad orders an alcohol free beer. The ad was a collaboration between Bladeworks and Chocolate Tribe to bring the ad in record time to the screen.

The stadium, filmed without any crowd for the majority of shots, was filled through the use of CGI crowds added in post. A short making-of follows the ad for a short sneak peek behind the scenes.

VW Polo "Beware The Confidence"

The new Volkswagen Polo television commercial (TVC) is being launched by Ogilvy Cape Town, the brand’s long-standing local agency. According to Ogilvy, the TVC comes with a friendly warning: Beware the confidence. Ogilvy Cape Town launches a new TVC for Volkswagen. Directed by Greg Gray from Romance Films, the TVC, titled Red Flashy Thingy, shows viewers the journey of a young professional who buys the new Volkswagen Polo. The TVC shows him becoming overconfident as a result of the new features available in the vehicle. Parking in a reserved space sends him on a journey filled with ‘wailing’ CEOs, scientists,

space programmes, and one ‘red flashy thingy’. Our artists at Chocolate Tribe collaborated with Bladeworks on this hilarious ad to deliver 3D set extension and replacements. Rudimentary sets were filmed in studio purely as placeholders in order to be replaced in post by the 3D team at Chocolate Tribe and 2D team at Bladeworks. In other VFX shots, buildings were inserted or enhanced to create the look director Greg Gray was after. It was a great pleasure working with the the whole film crew and we are excited to share this project with you.

Chocolate Tribe features on Redshift 3D

Redshift3D wrote a fantastic blog post on their main page about “Robot and Scarecrow” recently. It gives a glimpse behind the scenes of the rendering process at Chocolate Tribe using Redshift. Chocolate Tribe was responsible for over 90 of all the 140 VFX shots on Robot & Scarecrow, the latest short film from acclaimed UK director Kibwe Tavares. The film was co-produced by London based production houses, DMC Film (owned by Michael Fassbender and Conor McCaughan) and Nexus Studio. Starring Holliday Grainger and Jack O’Connell as the titular Robot and Scarecrow, this beautiful film tells the tale of a robot pop performer who meets a lonely scarecrow at a festival where they then embark on a whirlwind of experiences.

Huesitos Behind The Scenes

Glassworks

Making - Of Huesitos

It was great working with Glassworks Barcelona recently on Huesitos. They have now made this entertaining making-of. We still can’t get the song out of our head! We have accepted that it will be our studio theme song for the foreseeable future.

Chocolate Tribe collaborated by character rigging everything, setting up the dynamics system on the cloths, created some pipeline scripts, as well as animated the first 3 shots of the ad.
Enjoy!

Huesitos

Glassworks

Huesitos

Chocolate Tribe worked with the talented team of Glassworks Barcelona and German director duo Dvein on this out of the ordinary series of ads for Audible. 3D scans were made of the actor’s heads,

rigged in Maya and we then precisely match-moved ever nuance of motion of their heads. Dvein then crafted amazing animated facial features with Glassworks to represent each person’s distinct alter-ego.
