We are currently looking for the following:

  • Producer
    Skill level: junior – mid
    Software: Microsoft Office (Word/Powerpoint/Excel), Facebook, Twitter, WordPress
    Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail. It’s important to be highly self motivated, as part of the job is assisting the studio to grow it’s market share and overall presence. Social media plays a substantial part in our marketing, so the ability to put together short articles covering recent jobs is a big plus. Other tasks include client liaison, scheduling and support.

The positions below are mainly on short term or freelance basis, but you never know what happens, so send in your reel to info@chocolateTribe.co.za . There are always exciting projects coming in, that may be perfect for you to work on with us. The software skill is a plus, but learning something new is part of the job, so if you are willing to learn, then don’t let this stop you.

  • 3D Generalists
    Level: junior- senior
    Software: Maya, Houdini, Redshift, Arnold, Mental Ray, PFtrack, Photoshop, Mudbox, Zbrush (C++, Python, MEL coding a plus)
    Willingness to learn, self motivation and a team spirit are essential. Generalists ideally work in Maya, but based on the project, this can be Houdini, Max or which ever else suits the project best. Generalists will be expected to model, animate, rig, texture, shade, light and render. They should have a broader understanding of 3d, video and film in general.
  • 3D Modelers
    Level: junior- senior
    Software: Maya, Mudbox, Zbrush
    Willingness to learn, self motivation and a team spirit are essential. Both organic and hard surface modelers should get in touch. A good understanding of sculpting, form, UV’ing and topology a big plus.
  • 3D Animators
    Level: Mid- senior
    Software: Maya
    Animator should have a good understanding of animation timing and posing.
  • Matchmovers
    Level: Mid- senior
    Software: Maya, PFtrack
    Tracking ranges from scene to object and facial tracking. We prefer PFTrack, but are open to other tools.
  • Lighting TDs
    Level: junior- senior
    Software: Maya, Redshift, Arnold, Mental Ray, Photoshop, Quixel suite, Substance Painter, Mudbox
    The lighting TD will mainly handle shading, texturing, lighting and rendering.
  • FX / Character Rigging TDs
    Level: Mid- senior
    Software: Maya, Houdini (C++, Python, MEL coding a plus)

    An agile open mind, team spirit and an out of the box thinking mind required. The FX and Character TD ideally can hop between the two disciplines, but either way, we’d like to hear from you.FX TDs may be asked to work on particles, liquids, fluids, cloth, hair, fur, feathers, etc… Anything procedural really.Character riggers should ideally have an understanding of anatomy, muscle deformation and user friendly modular rigging.
  • Compositors
    Level: junior- senior
    Software: After Effects, Nuke
    We are interested to meet both junior and experienced 2D operators. Roles would be based on the projects, but generally will involve rotoscoping, live action and 3d compositing, as well as possibly some retouching and Digital Matte Painting.
